A 19th-century French mantel clock in the Sevres style. It is made of gilt bronze and features pink porcelain panels with hand-painted floral motifs.
The design is often described as being in the Louis XVI or Rococo Revival style, which was popular during the Napoleon III period in France. The case is made of gilt bronze, also known as ormolu, which is an alloy that has been treated with a thin layer of gold. The clock features several panels of hand-painted porcelain, including the main face and the side columns, with a striking pink background color known as "Rose Pompadour".
The clock is highly decorative, with classical motifs such as: Intricate garlands and floral swags on the gilt bronze, ram's masks on the sides, a decorative urn finial on top, a central clock face with hand-painted floral details and Roman numerals.
