An exquisite Austrian wall clock, circa 1820–1830, attributed to Viennese clockmaker Ad. Uhrig in Wien. This rare example features a richly carved giltwood and gesso frame, detailed with scrolling acanthus and floral motifs surrounding a central circular porcelain dial with Roman numerals.
The face is signed Ad. Uhrig in Wien, identifying it as a fine early 19th-century Viennese timepiece from the Biedermeier-to-Rococo Revival transition period—a moment when artistry and precision met in both furniture and horology.
The original parcel-gilt finish shows beautifully aged patina with timeworn gilding and traces of bole and gesso beneath, giving the piece a soft, romantic texture that only two centuries of age can create. The mechanical movement and enamel dial remain intact; light wear and age-appropriate surface distress add to its authenticity and charm.
Perfect as a statement wall piece, this clock reads equally well in a collected European interior, an old-world study, or layered among antique art in a gallery wall.
