With its' upholstered … Read more This chair is estimated to be from the very early "Victorian Era, ie: early 1830’s to 1840’s". With its' upholstered "balloon back", rolled and detailed top line on the top back of the chair, along with the original old burlap webbing on the bottom of the chair. Also note the “Metal Gold Florets” that adorn this chair as decorations on the front of the seat and at the top of the back on the fret work, which can be polished. This chair is very solid, well made & a show piece. Please take note; to the way the legs are attached with metal screws at the seat. The screw is recessed into the leg and then a matching wooden plug is inserted for a very polished look. This upholstering looks nice and is ok but this chair could really use a new reupholstering. Very solid chair. The wood is either Walnut or Mahogany, as the finish is very dark. Reupholstered and with the wood polished would make this amazing chair that of museum quality. See less
