The FB18 was made in Utrecht as part of the Combex series when Van Grunsven was working for architect Gerrit Rietveld.

The frame is made of laminated layers of plywood. The wood is in good condition. The chair was very recently re-upholstered in the burgundy red ‘Eden’ by Buvetex, a very soft yet wear-resistant wool mélange. We have also the even rarer mousegrey Scissor bench by the same designer available as well. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
