The collaboration characteristically combines the design language of Scandinavian Modern with the high-quality Dutch furniture production of that era.

The interplay between the open-construction wooden frame and the generously sized, softly upholstered leather cushions is particularly appealing. The surrounding horizontal wooden elements give the chairs their distinctive architectural structure and make them exceptionally attractive from the side and back. Small dark leather details on the lower frame echo the upholstery material and underscore the handcrafted nature of the design.

The set of two offered here is in excellent condition. The dark brown leather is very well-maintained and shows only a subtle, age-appropriate patina, which emphasizes the authentic vintage character of the chairs. The wooden frames are also in exceptionally good condition. The upholstery straps of both armchairs were recently replaced, providing reliable support for the seats without altering their character with the leather details on the frame.

Sven Ellekaer is one of the most interesting representatives of Danish post-war furniture design. His work follows the core principles of Scandinavian Modern: clear construction, functional design, and a strong emphasis on natural materials.
