Explore the charm of a bygone era with this vintage antique Davenport Captains desk. Crafted from robust wood, it exudes a medium wood tone that has aged gracefully, embracing the rich history of antique furniture. The desks original design features its classic appeal, offering a timeless esthetic that fits seamlessly into both traditional and modern interiors.
There are 4 drawers on each side and 8 small drawers with curving fronts in the cubby under the lift up desk top writing pad. The side drawers are 11 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" deep, 4" high and feature brass drawer pulls. The 8 small drawers are 4" wide, 5" deep, 2" high and feature turned wood pulls.
There is also additional storage above the lift up writing pad with its own cover.
The desk is solidly constructed using dovetail joints extensively in the construction of the desk itself and also the drawers (see drawer detail photos) attesting to the craftsmanship typical of the period. The desk also features intricately carved front legs.
While the exact age is estimated and unknown, the piece's historical vale is undeniable, making it a perfect choice for collectors and enthusiasts to own a piece of the past.
