Patented in the late 1800s (June 2, 1896; March 20, 1906; and January 31, 1905) and copyrighted in 1899 by W.N. Pelouze, this elegant scale would have graced the counters of old-world sweet shops and general stores.

Made metal with an ornate gilt finish and a beautifully curved base, the scale features a large, gleaming brass scoop bowl and a detailed computing chart framed by a border in the Art Nouveau style.
