An embossed pattern adds texture around the scalloped rim, which is finished in a lacy gold trim. Each plate is hand-numbered to identify the batch, and the maker's marks date this set to the late 19th century, around 1890. They were made in Altwasser, Prussia, which was then part of Germany.
