Five beautiful red transferware dinner plates by William Ridgway, depicting a turkey in the center of a farm scene. The borders burst with a varied array of flora in intricate detail. The mark indicates these were made between 1891 and 1920 in England.
Ridgway Potteries Ltd, was founded circa 1744. Sometimes referred to as the "Grandfather of the Potteries," the Ridgway family can be traced to the earliest days of the Staffordshire potteries. The Ridgway potters were appointed as Potter to Her Majesty Queen Victoria. This was the highest acclaim for any English pottery firm.
Measurement: 10"w x 3/4" h, are shaped with a shallow well.
Condition: Vibrant color, no chips or cracks, one has craquelure under glaze.
