Summer always brings with it a sense of fun and frivolity, and the design world is no different. We’ve put away the dark woods and sharp lines for pieces that are curvy, cool, and… we’ll say it…kicky. Whether you’re looking to feel your 80’s fantasy with truly tubular pink laminate or find some art under the summer skies, there’s something for you below. Our Co-Founder and President Anna Brockway offered color commentary on each of this season’s trends, so get shopping and see the pieces that will be everywhere in just a few months.

Glazed Over

We’ve been seeing blue and green glazed ceramics show up in a big way across categories, genres and periods, from mid century modern to contemporary. Our shoppers can’t get enough of the pleasing colors and assortment of exquisite hand-thrown pottery from Scandinavia, Germany, Italy and Spain available through our sister site Pamono.”

The New Romantics

A new trend we’re seeing is one we’ve coined The New Romantics. It’s a fresh take on the traditional style with some contemporary twists. We’re loving a palette of mint and soft blue, which feels delicate, femine, and oh-so-right for summer. And when adding finishing touches, consider adding a stand-out accent chair with a fabulous ruffle pleat to complete the look!

Bookworm

Summer is a great time for diving into good reads, so why not add some fabulous design books to your list? Chairish’s world-class assortment includes vintage and contemporary books on art and design. And if you have no time to read, add a few of these inspirational books as decor to your shelves and impress your friends with your design smarts.”

Summer Skies

Brush away winter blues and rainy days with these palette-pleasing landscape paintings. Abstracts with hints of fauvism, impressionism and folk art all share a dream-like quality evoking a delightful summer’s day. Select a piece with  an ornate gold frame, and you’ll no doubt make a splash this season!

Rug Color Story

This is just the pop of color we need right now! We love this palette that is finding its way to our floors. The muted berry tones, soft citrus and olive green is a fantastic combination that is bright without being overpowering and plays well with others.

Melon

This fruit-forward trend just screams summer because it’s so fun and unexpected! Add a little flair to your walls or your table — it’s so easy to incorporate to any space.

Terracotta

Terracotta is the earthy, grounded and neutral hue we absolutely adore for its warm sophistication. From Etruscan-style busts to pedestals and urns to mid century sculpture, these earthy, baked-clay colored pieces perfectly bridge worldliness with a sense of imperfection.

Greek Key Revival

We’re mad for the resurgence of Greek Key, the interlocking repeat pattern that’s often expressed as a standout decor border. We’re seeing it on very traditional silhouettes like antique painted Gustavian case pieces, but also as finishing touches like majolica, trim and decorative accents. This small detail feels special!

Victorian Wicker

Wicker has been on our must-have list for a few years now, but choosing a Victorian wicker piece is a great way to switch up what we typically think of as wicker and add a bit of pizazz to a room. They feel sculptural, fanciful, and statement making.

Pink Laminate

We’re gaga for 80’s pink laminate. We’re wild for the bubbly, fun pop of color provided by these statement makers.

Ferns

Bring the outdoors in with this verdant and bright trend. This frond pattern is perfect for summer whether it’s printed on colored glassware, a lush pillow or a print.
