What made you passionate about interior design? How’d you get your start?

Growing up in Atlanta, I was immersed in the world of design from an early age, thanks to my mom, Susan Wilcox. I spent countless hours at her shop, The Brownstone, watching her transform spaces that felt full of heart. This early exposure instilled in me a deep appreciation for classic design and architecture, which I now blend with a modern perspective in my work. I’m always looking to create spaces that feel elevated but also warm and welcoming, with a mix of old and new that brings soul into every room.

I’m constantly drawn to pieces that have soul, and Chairish is full of them.

How does sustainability factor into your design choices and love of vintage?

Sustainability is such a natural part of how I design, and is a large part of my design philosophy. I was always taught by my mom that old pieces deserve a second act. Incorporating vintage pieces and honoring craftsmanship adds both depth and uniqueness to a space. When a room is filled with pieces that have lived a life before, it instantly feels more soulful—and that’s what I’m always after.

What are three of your favorite pieces on Chairish now?

It’s hard to choose just three, but I’m currently obsessed with this Philip and Kelvin LaVerne coffee table—it’s the perfect blend of old and modern, which is what I’m always after. It’s definitely an investment, but it’s timeless and worth every penny for something that will anchor a room for generations. I also can’t stop thinking about this, Helen Thomas abstract painting. The palette is so dreamy—I’d love to build an entire room around it. It’s bold but not overpowering, and has that perfect mix of movement and softness. Art like this really drives the energy in a space.

And of course, I have to include a little nod to our signature showhouse turtle! This vintage Maitland-Smith bronze and tortoise shell turtle box has so much personality and charm. We’ve styled similar ones everywhere from Atlanta to Palm Beach. I love pieces that are unexpected but still refined! And, I know this makes four, but I had to include this vintage coral and onyx ring. I have such a deep love for vintage jewelry, and this one reminds me of something my mom would’ve worn. There’s just something so special about pieces with a story, and even better when they shine on your pinky!

Favorite way to create a statement-making moment in a room?

I believe in the power of mixing classic elements with bold accents. Think: timeless wallcoverings or detailed millwork paired with a vibrant piece of modern art. That balance of contrasting elements creates a focal point that feels both grounded and fresh.

Do you have any go-to color palettes and color combos?

I always come back to blues and greens—they’re timeless and play so well with both neutrals and brights. I’ve also been loving touches of orange; this palette brings a sense of cohesion and warmth, which helps a space feel inviting.

What advice do you have for first-time clients to make their space truly personal?

Start with what you love—whether that’s a family heirloom, a favorite color, or even something as simple as a photograph that makes you feel at home. The goal is to build a space that reflects your story. By incorporating these elements into your design, you ensure the space reflects your personality; remember, a well-designed home should feel like a true extension of yourself.
