For sale is a collection of rare, unique and wonderful African tribal pieces from the estate of Dr. Richard Schuster.

After graduating from Harvard with a PhD in Experimental Psychology, Dr. Richard Schuster first went to Africa in 1971, teaching at the University of Zambia.

During his six years in Zambia, he traveled throughout the continent collecting tribal artifacts, amassing an impressive and inspired collection. He concurrently worked for the World Wildlife Fund, studying the environmental effects on the lechwe antelope, becoming the world’s expert on this animal.

Years later, upon retiring from his professorial position at the University of Haifa, Israel, Dr. Schuster was able to fully indulge his lifelong passion for African art. Several of his prized pieces are housed in multiple prestigious institutions such as the Bedford Stuyvesant Museum of African Art in Brooklyn, the Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York, the Africana Institute in Newark, NJ, as well as private collections across the U.S. and Europe.
