This is a stunning silver-plate bowl from the postmodern period, designed by the renowned American artist and architect, Richard Meier for Swid Powell Co. in 1992. The bowl is a true representation of Meier's signature style of geometric forms and simple elegance. It is formally known as the "Skyscraper" bowl due to its perforated edge that resembles the skyscrapers of New York City.
The bowl was made in Italy and is marked with the Swid Powell Co. logo, Meier's initials "RM", "Made in Italy", and "Silver plated" on the bottom. It measures 10 inches in diameter and stands 3 inches tall, making it a great standalone piece for display on a shelf, as a fruit bowl or as a catchall on a table or desk.
This piece is in good condition, with wear commensurate to it's age and use. There are use marks on both the interior and exterior, but the bowl still shines up like a mirror.
