Special edition ceramic platter by renowned Spanish artist Robert Llimós - a true masterpiece of art and utility! This platter is one of only 400 made exclusively for the Centre Cultural CALIXA CATALUNYA, making it a truly rare and unique addition to any collection.
Measuring a massive 22" x 17 1/2", this platter showcases Llimós' incredible talent for capturing the essence of life in his artwork. The platter features three red fish swimming in an indigo blue background, with free-form swirling yellow lines indicating the reflections of the sun bouncing off the top of the water. Looking upon this artwork, the artist has captured that fleeting moment of spotting fish just below the surface, with sunlight and reflections bouncing off the waves of the ocean.
This platter is both utilitarian and whimsical, making it perfect for serving the day's first catch to everyone in the family or displaying it as the work of art it truly is. Signed and dated in verso by the artist, this platter is a true collector's item and a testament to Llimós' talent.
Robert Llimós is an artist with an impressive career, born in Barcelona in 1943. He studied at the Escola Massana and the Escola Superior de Belles Arts Sant Jordi de Barcelona. His paintings are part of the Nova Figuració movement, and his turn to conceptual art from 1969 dissociated him from this group of artists.
Returning to figurative painting from 1973, Llimós developed a more expressionist style and gave great importance to color in his works. An important event in his career was the alien sighting he experienced in 2009 at Fortaleza's beach (Brazil), which led to a focus on the figurative representation of this life-changing experience in his paintings.
Llimós has exhibited mainly in Catalonia, as well as around the Spanish state and in important cities like New York, Bucharest, and Paris. Some of his works are in prestigious institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, MACBA, and the Museo de Arte Moderno do Espirito Santo in Brazil.
