Offered is a lead crystal platter from renowned Belgian firm, Val St. Lambert. This swirl trefoil pattern is referred to as Romy, and is known to have been produced in other forms since at least 1930, though this piece is from their early 1960s collection.
The history of this company is fascinating, originally known as Vonêche glassworks, it survived the French Revolution, and was originally held by the Dutch, then the French under Baccarat, and was retaken by the Belgians and placed in the Abbey of Val Saint Lambert, from which they took their current name.
