This vibrant Reed & Barton silver plate with red enamel pedestal compote is lovely and striking. Originally intended to be used as a compote on tablescape, this piece can easily be used for non-culinary purposes due to it's elegance. Perhaps on a foyer table for keys or mints, on a coffee table for nuts or chocolates and even on a vanity for holding that special piece of jewelry. The modern flare of the red enamel over the subdued traditional silver pedestal was the perfect blend during the mid-century for hosts who owned traditional silver serving sets but were excited by sleekness of modern designs and wanted to use both. This combination of the stunning silver and deep ruby red enamel proved to not only be striking, but made the compote one of Reed & Barton’s most popular designs. Absolutely stunning!
