Made for Pitkin & Brooks Chicago, by Brown Westhead Moore & Co., Cauldon Ware England. Circa 1894 (subsequently, in 1905 the company name was changed to Cauldon Ltd.). Eager to export high quality dinnerware to the American luxury market at the height of the Gilded Age, the advertisement in the handbook to the 1893 'World's Columbian Exposition' trade show in Chicago, allows us to speculate that Pitkin & Brooks may have placed the order for the set at this exposition.
