I am not sure what its original intended purpose was ? Possibly a Table Centerpiece - Serving Piece for Pickles - Olives - Mincemeat - Sauces - Gravy Nuts Etc. It was made during the Classic Aesthetic Victorian Period - Circa Late 19th Century. It has No Maker but it is Embossed on the Bottom with The Number 16. I have been Dealing in Majolica for Many Years and In my Considered Opinion that it was Most Likely Made in Austria. It is done in a High Gloss Slip Glaze With Beautiful Multiple Color Hand Decorated Features. Condition as Follows. It Appears to Have Had a Few Old Professional Repair to One Leg - Paw and a Small Chip Repair to the Top Rim - Wing Tip Area. It also Has a Very Faint - Minor Hairline Crack on One of the Wings. It is in Strong - Sound Condition and it Displays Very Nicely
It Measures 6 3/4 inches Tall x 10 3/4 inches Long x 4 1/2 inches Wide..
