A Mid-Century Modern freeform art pottery bowl or catchall dish by American artist, sculptor, and ceramicist, Sascha Brastoff (1918-1993) dating circa 1950s. The central decoration of a whimsical hand-painted white peacock features flamboyant, jeweled plumage in blue and teal green with gold and black accents. The biomorphic shaped bowl has a glossy glazed finish and is in very good condition measuring 9.63 in. long x 8.25 in. wide x 2.25 in. height (at tallest edge). Signed Sascha B in gold on the lower right upper surface. The base is marked with a golden Rooster backstamp over Sascha Brastoff / California / U.S.A. / F 40 (style number).
Brastoff was active in Los Angeles from 1947-1963.
