Victorian England Staffordshire Pair stroll the countryside in search of kindling to spark a fire and perhaps a little romance.
The Victorians adored brightening their homes with these purpose made Staffordshire Pottery darlings. They are flat and unadorned on the back because they were meant to fit on spaces like mantles and bookshelves.
Bright pigments have been applied in a whimsical painterly style that is a hallmark of these Staffordshire Pottery pieces.
Our dear fellow has had a bit of an adventure. Please note his hand to the right of the picture has ceramic loss. There is a close up pictured. None the less, he has stayed calm and carries on.
(legend has it that the graze to his hand happened during fisticuffs with a ruffian in the forest & that he bested the cad and is no worse for wear.)
While they are antique, their clothing color story is on trend featuring willow blue, pale moss green and raspberry pink.
Bring the romance of Victorian England to your life with these charming Staffordshire Sweethearts.

The price accounts for this. Please see the photo. While the hand is damaged, it does not negate the aesthetics or value of the piece. On casual viewing, it is unobtrusive. Also know that the underside of the base does has factory irregularities created when manufactured that do not affect use. Please see picture. And there is a mystery! There seems to be a bit of pottery inside the hollow body of the piece that makes a small rattling sound when you turn it upside down. Quite a lot of antique old cast pottery has the odd bit rattling around. Such good fun. Be sure to ask before purchase if you have questions. less
