Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
This sublimely charming trio of porcelain lotus bowls, made in Japan, were all the rage from the late 1950s to early 1970s. My mom gave me my first set many years ago and I’ve kept adding over the years. Have used them as prep / serveware bowls to hold chopped spices, garnishes, sauces, etc. In fabulous condition with minimal use wear. All three bowls feature a faint ribbed lotus leaf motif on the exterior. There are two sizes (see photos) and all three consist of similar but different floral and foliate motifs. The smallest one has a white interior with pale blue exterior. The other two are the same size but one has a pale blue interior while the other has a white interior; both are blue on the exterior and all three have gilded rims. The two larger ones measure 4¼” x 2¼” D/H; capacity 6 oz. apiece. The smaller one measures 3¼” x 1½”; capacity just under 4 oz.; together the set weighs 11 oz. The small bowl’s mark is illegible, while the other two have faded marks. For a collector of vintage Japanese lotus bowls, this whimsical trio should be a must have!
