It is said … Read more Chair no. 17 (or ''Long John'') was designed by the founder of Thonet, Michael Thonet, around 1865. It is said that the design was based on the architecture of the Crystal Palace (destroyed by a fire in 1936), at which in 1851 The London Great Exhibition took place, where Thonet showed its chairs.

This specific chair dates from the 1960s and is most probably manufactured by Radomsko in Poland. Also known as Fameg. This specific chair is not signed but everything points in the direction of an early production. The square screws holding the legs are a sign of the old age and the production plant of the chair.
Looking at the bentwood, you can also see that this is a beautiful old, handmade chair. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
