Designed in 1958 by renowned industrial designer Dave Chapman for the Jefferson Electric Company (creators of the iconic Golden Hour clock), the "Suspense" Mystery Clock (Model 580-191) is a mid-century kinetic art piece.
Featuring a suspended central clock assembly hanging gracefully inside a rectangular frame by a delicate brass chain, this clock creates the optical illusion of hands floating in mid-air. The dial, hands, and motor casing are offset against clear glass etched with gold-filled numeral
Materials: 24k Gold-plated die-cast metal frame, glass, brass chain, clear Plexiglas sprocket.
