This vintage pendant lantern is a tall, architectural form with a hexagonal glass-paneled body beneath a sweeping, crown-shaped iron cap. A scrolled finial and ring at the apex carry the hanging chain, while the arched crown bands curve outward in a regal, pagoda-like silhouette. The frame is wrought in iron with a mottled, hammered finish in warm gold, tarnished bronze, and soft rust, which gives the surface a weathered, almost gilded look. Gently scalloped rails trace the top of each glass panel, and the base is edged with a band of pierced circles in varied sizes that add a lacy, rhythmic detail and let light spill through. Clear glass panels fill each side, giving an open, transparent view of the interior. Inside, a dark iron ivy vine climbs the central stem, its cut-metal leaves and curling tendrils darkened to a rich, blackened bronze that contrasts with the lighter exterior. Two curved arms end in petal-like bobeches that hold white candle-style sleeves, so the lantern glows like a pair of tall tapers. The mix of gilded frame, dark foliage, and glass lends the piece an old-world, garden-conservatory character.
Hang this lantern in an entryway, stair hall, dining room, or over a kitchen island, where it can serve as a focal point and cast a soft, patterned glow. It complements Traditional, French Country, Hollywood Regency, Farmhouse, and Cottage interiors, especially alongside aged wood, stone, and lush greenery. To care for it, dust the frame with a soft, dry cloth, clean the glass with a gentle glass cleaner applied to the cloth, and avoid abrasive polishes that could disturb the finish. Have the wiring and fittings checked by a qualified electrician before regular use, and install securely from a structural support. The lantern measures 20 inches (508 mm) wide, 17.25 inches (438 mm) deep, and 30.5 inches (775 mm) high, excluding chain. Offered in very good vintage condition, it has its original finish with a natural patina, minor surface wear and oxidation, and intact glass panels free of cracks or chips.
