The cabochon is ringed by a tight halo of small, round, faceted crystals in clear and pale smoke tones, each held in its own prong setting. Four oversized, heart- and pear-shaped clear crystals sit at the corners, throwing icy, prismatic flashes, while two deep midnight-blue faceted stones flank the center at either side for a dramatic, inky contrast. Between them, small pearls in dove gray and soft ivory are scattered through the design, adding a lustrous, creamy note against the sparkle. The framework is an ornate, openwork filigree of scrolls and flourishes in blackened, gunmetal-toned metal, which darkens the recesses and makes every stone appear to glow. The crowded, layered arrangement of cabochon, crystals, and pearls gives the cuff real dimension and the opulent, jeweled-brooch quality for which the designer is known.
