The sculptural crystal case is the defining feature of the design. Deep, irregular geometric facets surround the circular clock face, catching and refracting light from different angles and giving the piece an almost rock-crystal or carved-ice appearance. Its substantial transparent form contrasts beautifully with the refined metallic gold dial and polished gold-tone bezel.

The dial is distinctly minimalist, with slender black linear hour markers, gold-tone hands and a contrasting sweep seconds hand. The restrained graphics give the clock a sophisticated late-20th-century modern appearance while allowing the dramatic crystal surround to remain the visual focus.

Made by Seiko in Japan, the clock retains its identifying reference label on the reverse:

At approximately 7 inches high by 7 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep, this is an unusually substantial decorative clock for a desk, library shelf, console, nightstand or mantel. The heavy faceted transparent case gives it considerably more presence than its dimensions might suggest.

Its combination of clear crystal and warm gold makes it particularly effective in Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, contemporary, modernist and 1980s interiors. It would look excellent on a lacquered desk, marble console, brass-and-glass cocktail bar, or among a collection of vintage luxury desk accessories.

The reverse reveals the original quartz mechanism, battery compartment, alarm/sound controls and manufacturer's identification. The clock uses a single AA battery.

Vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use, including minor surface wear and oxidation or discoloration to portions of the gold-tone bezel and reverse components, as visible in the photographs. The substantial faceted crystal body presents beautifully.

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The clear faceted crystal body presents beautifully overall, with a small flea bite/chip along the bottom edge, visible upon close inspection and consistent with age and use. Please refer to the detailed photographs for condition.
