This petite decorative object was designed to display a gentleman's pocket watch when not being carried. The watch would hang from the upper portion of the chair while resting gently against the padded velvet seat, transforming the timepiece into a miniature desk or bedside display.

The ornate openwork back, scrolling botanical details, shaped apron, and curved legs give the piece a distinctly Rococo Revival / Art Nouveau-influenced character. Equally appealing today as a collector's object, horological accessory, or whimsical decorative accent.
