A wonderfully unusual vintage Italian iron accent chair attributed to designer S. Salvadori. The sculptural frame features a tall open back terminating in dramatic scroll details, a perforated metal seat and a series of curved iron loops beneath the seat creating an almost basket-like profile.
The original decorative finish is particularly appealing, with aged red painted surfaces layered over areas of gilt and darkened metal. Years of wear have created a beautifully mottled patina throughout, highlighting the sculptural construction and giving the chair tremendous character.
An unusual decorative chair with strong Hollywood Regency influence and a wonderful Italian design sensibility. Equally interesting viewed from the front, side or back.
