The service features richly detailed famille rose enamels in pink, green, turquoise and other jewel tones, accented with extensive gilding. The decoration incorporates traditional Chinese longevity motifs with crisp painting and remarkably vibrant color.

Although porcelain of this type is frequently marketed under the broader term Rose Medallion, the decoration is more accurately described as famille rose with Mun Shou, or longevity, motifs.

Each piece bears the Yang Cheng (“Goat City”) pictorial mark, depicting two goats flanking a vase. Yang Cheng is a traditional name for Guangzhou, historically known in the West as Canton, and comparable examples of this mark are associated with Chinese porcelain production of this period.

The 20-piece service includes:

8 dinner plates
8 bowls
1 large serving platter
1 porcelain serving spoon
1 covered serving dish with lid

The set is in exceptionally fine vintage condition and appears to have been very lightly used, if at all. The porcelain retains brilliant enamel colors and extensive gilded detail.

A coordinating 25-piece tea and dessert service is available in a separate listing, offering the opportunity to assemble an impressive 45-piece coordinated service.

A spectacular table setting for entertaining and holidays, and an unusually complete example of high-quality vintage Chinese famille rose dinnerware.
