Impressive antique French Belle Époque / Art Nouveau figural mantel clock featuring the “Volubilis” figure by Ch. Ruchot, circa 1900.
The sculptural female figure stands beneath an elegant winding botanical vine, rising above a richly figured green onyx clock case. Ornate metal mounts, scrolling feet and a delicate floral-decorated dial complete the composition. At approximately 24 inches tall, the clock has exceptional scale and presence and functions beautifully as both a timepiece and decorative sculpture.
The mechanical bell-strike movement appears substantially complete and includes its pendulum and bell. Both winding trains accept winding; however, sustained operation was not established during testing. The clock is therefore being offered as-is and currently non-running. Winding key is not included.
Approximately 24” H.
A striking example of turn-of-the-century French decorative arts with wonderful Art Nouveau movement, figural detail and architectural presence.
