A dramatic pair of late 19th- to early 20th-century walnut side chairs, featuring richly carved high backs, colorful heraldic shields, and warm coral-orange velvet upholstery.

Each chair rises to an elaborate pierced crest of scrolling foliage centered by a painted, quartered shield bearing floral, star, and tree motifs. A small carved mask crowns the composition, while leaf-carved scroll terminals finish the tall back posts. Repeating carved ornament extends down the uprights and front legs, giving the slender frames a strong architectural rhythm.

The padded seats and rectangular upholstered back panels are covered in coral-orange velvet with coordinating decorative braid. Warm walnut tones provide a handsome contrast to the fabric and painted crests. Straight legs joined by perimeter stretchers complete the balanced silhouette.

At 49 inches tall, these chairs offer considerable visual impact within a compact footprint. Display them flanking a console, alongside a library cabinet, or as distinctive accent seating in an entry or sitting room. Their sculptural backs and heraldic decoration lend a collected, old-world character to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
