A scaled … Read more 19th century French mantel clock in an arched case of warm yellow veined marble with dark patinated mounts. A scaled band runs over the arch, and the dial is ringed with the signs of the zodiac in relief. Classical profile medallions sit to either side above slender columns, with a ribbon tied flower garland beneath the dial and, lower down, a relief of a seated figure reading beside a pedestal topped with an oil lamp. The case rests on a stepped base with a palmette border, raised on block feet. A hinged glass bezel at the back opens onto the movement and bell. See less
