The low circular vessel incorporates a pronounced stepped or notched section of the rim, giving the otherwise restrained form a distinctly architectural profile.

The interior glaze is particularly expressive, with layered blue-green and olive passages transitioning into warmer ochre and iron-brown areas. The exterior carries a darker contrasting band, while the exposed underside reveals the warm natural clay body beneath the glaze.

At approximately 10 inches across and weighing 3.6 lb, the vessel has the mass and stability appropriate to a functional suiban intended for ikebana arrangements and use with a kenzan. The broad, shallow basin provides the low horizontal presentation associated with this traditional Japanese flower-arranging form.
