The Mermaid, better known as Melusine, was a feminine water-spirit who would appear to guide sailors away from the dangers of the dark sea.

This lamp was produced by Bombay Company in the early 1980's. It has its traditional engraved signature on each socket. There is a double cluster socket, which illuminates the sculpture beautifully, as seen in the photo with the light on. The metal is most likely an alloy appearing as solid brass, but most likely it is a satin brass like finish. The aging alone with the satin finish makes this lamp appear a lot older than it is, giving it even a more antique look.

GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION. Lots of tarnishing, specially to the base and a few other areas of light pitting. If you are looking for perfection, this is not a lamp for you. lectrical cord and sockets in good working order.
