Antique English Victorian mahogany round occasional table, circa 1890, featuring a fixed circular top above an unusually decorative three-part base with turned and fluted urn-form elements, gracefully curved supports, turned finials, and a shaped triangular lower platform.

The rich mahogany finish and open base give the table considerable decorative detail without making it visually heavy. Its round top provides a useful surface beside a bed or upholstered chair for a lamp, books, flowers, or the small necessities a guest likes to keep close at hand.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What I like about this table for a guest room is its scale. A bedside table doesn't always need drawers or a heavy cabinet base. Sometimes a simple surface for a lamp, a glass of water and a book is exactly enough. The open base also lets you see the floor around it, which can be especially useful when you're trying to keep a bedroom from feeling crowded.
