Sourced from an elite, time-capsule estate in Palm Beach, Florida, this monumental statement mirror captures the height of luxury mid-century coastal design. Standing at over 4 feet tall, it represents the premium, multi-national design flow of the 1970s and 1980s. The piece beautifully reflects the iconic styles of luxury design houses like Ficks Reed, McGuire, and Karl Springer, which are celebrated for combining structural organic materials with high-end leather tailoring. It proudly retains its original, bright yellow "Made in the Philippines / Finished in U.S.A." export tag on the back. This label marks a premium dual-country assembly process where the raw, complex organic framing was meticulously hand-built by master weavers in the Philippines and subsequently imported to domestic workshops to receive bespoke, premium lacquered glaze finishes.
The reverse of the heavy structural plywood backing preserves an intimate glimpse into its artisan assembly line, displaying the handwritten factory lot or pattern code "18590" in grease pencil. Underneath, the workshop technician's original graphite measurement metrics (30.5" x 50.5") and hand-drawn layout lines remain perfectly visible, detailing the precise 1.5-inch installation setbacks sketched out to ensure the heavy-duty D-ring hangers were balanced flawlessly.
Material & Construction Details:The Palette: Finished in a sophisticated custom designer palette of light grayish-blue and soft cream, perfectly accentuating the coastal-chic vibe. The Framing: Constructed using substantial, thick structural posts of authentic natural bamboo showcasing rich, genuine growth nodes and fibrous stalk texture.
The Reeding: The graceful, arched top header and the matching bottom base are accented with densely packed, hand-aligned panels of genuine split pencil reeds, yielding a brilliant dimensional ribbed texture.
The Bindings: Elevating this piece far above standard mass-market rattan core, the corner joints feature premium, thick hand-woven leather rawhide straps wrapped tightly around the bamboo columns in an interlocking basketweave motif. The Finish: Dressed in its original designer whitewash / pickled glaze, hand-rubbed to accent the deep organic grain lines and crevices of the natural reed.
