Late 19th C. Wicker and Bamboo Lift Lid Side Table / Sewing Stand / Vanity.
A very unusual shape in an eternally timeless style.
29" tall - top is 22" wide by 16.5" deep.
Beautiful tapered design, with a large hinged front drawer and very fine detailing.
Presents as all-original - showing even patina on the linen / muslin fabrics. Still crisp and bright on the edge work and trims. Proper period hardware on the hinges and drawer catch. Clean inside and it all works smoothly. Wooden interior still presents its original finish as well.
Terrific and rare ball feet as well - still very sturdy and ready for use.
Likely British Market - a proper English piece!
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
We love bamboo / burnished / cane cabinets and caseloads. English Campaign style, Victorian era, and just fantastic in any room with any decor.
And this shape! We've never seen one quite like this, particularly in all-original condition. It's lovely, and presents with so much more style than just another rectangular side-table!
