An antique 19th century earthenware bowl with hand-painted blue and green botanical brushwork. Crafted from a warm terracotta clay with an off-white glazed interior and an exposed rustic clay exterior base. The style is similar to slipware produced in southern Spain or northern Africa. The piece has a beautiful patina and presents very well. Unsigned.
The piece was sourced from a collector who noted the age and believed the piece to be Moroccan. Spanish and Moroccan ceramic traditions and aesthetics share deep historical roots through Moorish rule.
