The porcelain bowl is finished in brilliant white and deep emerald green with delicate polychrome bouquets of pink roses, blue, violet and orange flowers. A coordinating floral bouquet decorates the interior, allowing the centerpiece to be appreciated from above as well as from the exterior.

Of particular note is the unusually elaborate metalwork. A pierced gilt-metal floral gallery encircles the rim, while a series of suspended floral garlands, bows and rosettes embellish the green border below. Sculptural scrolling handles rise at either side, terminating in classical floral medallions.

The bowl is elevated upon an emerald-green porcelain pedestal accented with gilt bands and beaded metal mounts, all resting upon a shaped gilt-metal plinth.

Both porcelain components are marked “P. Limoges France – Peint à la Main,” denoting hand-painted French Limoges decoration.

The symmetrical garlands, pierced gallery, rosettes and classical pedestal form place the design firmly within the Louis XVI / Neoclassical Revival tradition.

A sophisticated decorative centerpiece suitable for a dining table, console, sideboard, library or formal living room.
