Meissen coffee and tea service, consisting of 22 parts: 1 coffee pot, 1 milk jug, 1 lidded sugar bowl, six cups, six saucers, six dessert plates, 1 large round serving platter. Shape: new cutout decor: small table ('tischchen') pattern, colourful, with golden shading, gold border, plastic rosebuds as knobs on the lids. Decor number: 352110 the ‘tischchen’ pattern is one of the early east asian designs produced by the meissen manufactory in the kakiemon or imari style. It was developed as early as the baroque period, around 1730/1735, under the direction of johann gregorius höroldt, and is thus one of the oldest known meissen patterns. A typical feature of the design is a stylised, delicate chinese garden table – the eponymous ‘little table’ – as the central motif, from which magnificent asian (indian) flowers in vibrant colours spring forth. It is traditionally executed in underglaze blue combined with coloured overglaze painting. A characteristic feature is the interplay of luminous iron red, purple, green and a delicate shade of gold, as well as a precise gold rim. The rims of plates and cups are often adorned with an ornate, iron-red honeycomb or leaf border, interrupted by small, flower-filled medallions. 22 parts / dimensions: 1 coffee pot + lid: h = 22,5 cm / 8.85 in 1 milk jug: h = 12,0 cm / 4.72 in 1 sugar bowl + lid: h = 10,0 cm / 3.93 in 6 cups: h = 6,5 cm / 2.55 in 6 saucers: ø = 14,5 cm / 5.70 in 6 dessert plates: ø = 18,5 cm / 7.28 in 1 round platter: ø = 31,5 cm / 12.40 in manufactory: meissen, germany hand-crafted porcelain, hand-painted, glossy finish marks: underglaze blue meissen sword mark of 20th century / first quality various embossed and painted numbers condition: the entire set is in very good overall condition this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
