Dating to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s–1960s, the scale features an elegant fluted central column, elaborate pierced crest, adjustable balance beam, and two shallow brass pans suspended from wonderfully detailed articulated chains.

The aged brass has a warm patina that gives the piece tremendous character and contrasts beautifully with the polished marble base. Stamped “MADE IN ITALY” on the back of the mechanism.

At 22 inches tall and 21 inches wide, this is an unusually commanding decorative object—beautiful on a library table, console, large desk or kitchen island. A fabulous addition to a collected traditional, Neoclassical, Grand Tour or Hollywood Regency interior.
