The plate is finished with the green band around the rim, an earlier and harder-to-find variation of the Birds of Britain collection.

Designed by celebrated British ceramic designer Susan Williams-Ellis, founder of Portmeirion Pottery, the Birds of Britain series reflects her characteristic use of detailed natural-history illustrations adapted for tableware. Crafted in England and now discontinued, these pieces have become increasingly collectible, particularly the less commonly found green-band examples.

This 8 5/8” luncheon/salad plate is equally appealing for use or display. Its English naturalist imagery works beautifully in English country, cottage, coastal, traditional, rustic, and collected interiors.
