A spectacular decorative piece with wonderful scale, color, and detail.

The architectural clock case is surmounted by a seated putto holding a fruiting grapevine and richly decorated throughout with hand-painted floral sprays, birds, gilded accents, and a reserved scene of a courting couple. Beside the clock stands an elegant classical female figure in flowing pink robes, accompanied by a charming begging poodle.

Dimensions: approximately 15.25” H x 12.25” W x 6.5” D.

Condition: Overall, the porcelain is remarkably well preserved considering its age, but there are several condition issues to note. The tip/approximately half of the lady’s pointing finger is chipped off, as is part of her big toe. The porcelain surrounding the winding/key holes on the clock face is cracked and chipped. If the clock originally had a hinged glass or porcelain cover over the dial, it is now missing, leaving the face exposed. Otherwise, the piece presents beautifully and is in excellent decorative condition.

Please note: I am selling this primarily as a decorative antique rather than a functioning clock. I have not tested the clock mechanism and doubt that it is currently operational, although I could certainly be wrong. No guarantee is made regarding its functionality.

A truly exceptional and highly decorative example of 19th-century Meissen porcelain—beautiful as a statement piece on a mantel, console, or in a collection of European porcelain.

Market Note: Comparable antique Meissen figural mantel clocks of this scale and complexity are often valued and offered for $6,000 or more, with particularly fine examples commanding substantially higher prices. Given their age, elaborate construction, and numerous delicate applied elements, these clocks are rarely encountered in completely perfect condition, making some degree of historic loss or restoration relatively common.
