An exquisite early‑18th‑century French giltwood sculpture depicting a winged angel, originally part of a Louis XVI altar ensemble. The figure stands gracefully on an ornate pedestal carved with acanthus motifs, holding one arm aloft in a gesture of blessing or offering. A basket of flowers crowns her head, symbolizing abundance and divine grace.
The carving reveals exceptional craftsmanship; delicate facial features, flowing drapery, and finely detailed wings; all enhanced by the warm glow of the original gilding. The surface bears a gentle patina consistent with age, adding depth and authenticity to its sacred presence.
This piece embodies the refined elegance of French ecclesiastical art from the Louis XVI period, merging spiritual symbolism with sculptural mastery.
