Offered is a vintage 1970s Iron Mountain Stoneware plate in the "Lookout Mountain" pattern, featuring a speckled cream glaze with bold, hand-painted blue abstract mountain and brown dot representing a sun.
Iron Mountain Stoneware was founded by Nancy Patterson Lamb in 1965 and operated through 1992 in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. The Lookout Mountain series commonly date from the early 1970s through the 1975 period. The pattern was designed featuring a light gray or creamy tan speckled background (such as this version) with a large curved cobalt blue brush stroke and a smaller brownish-red dot representing a sunrise or sunset over a mountain top. Nancy noted that the design evolved from artwork by her sister Sally Patterson and art professor Jim Kaneko.
The dinner plate measures: 11" in diameter, 1" in height.
