A striking vintage writing desk and coordinating chair designed by Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture’s celebrated Chin Hua Collection, dating to the late 1970s/early 1980s.
The desk beautifully combines Asian-inspired form with the glamorous materials and contrasting finishes characteristic of the Chin Hua Collection. A richly figured burl wood inset top provides dramatic movement and warmth against the deep ebonized frame. Matching wood drawer fronts continue the contrast across the façade, while distinctive brass geometric pulls provide the finishing architectural detail.
Three drawers offer practical storage, including a generously sized center drawer. The desk is finished on the sides, allowing it to work equally well against a wall or positioned more prominently within a room.
The accompanying Chin Hua chair complements the desk beautifully, featuring a tall, graceful Asian-inspired silhouette with a carved geometric motif along the central back splat and a removable upholstered seat cushion.
