This is a stunning and well-preserved Victorian Eastlake dresser, featuring double candle stands, column details on each side and ... best of all ... a diamond dust swivel mirror. It has three drawers on the bottom and two small handkerchief drawers attached to the top. The mirror swivels on wooden bolts and reveals the "sparkle effect" when you hold a flashlight up close.
Popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s, diamond dust mirrors were made by spreading tin and mercury over glass in a thin layer. Over time, the mercury and tin mixture would separate and crystallize, creating a glittering effect that looks like diamond dust.
This old dresser is in remarkable condition for its age with very little wear and no significant damage that I can spot. The drawers pull smoothly and the entire piece is in great shape ... no significant scratches, scuffing or damage.
Dresser measures 80" tall, 47" wide and 21.5" deep.
