The combination of … Read more This strikingly handsome, diminutive Swiss clock (it's five inches tall) might be considered "jewelry for the home." The combination of the malachite embellishments, the distinctive diamond-shaped, architectural case, the geometric Arabic numerals and elegant, two-toned lozenge-form hands, give this clock its distinctive and appealing Art Deco character.

The Swiss mechanical 8-day movement is currently running and keeping good time. The tiny window on the back allows the mechanism to be slowed down or speeded up. When fully wound, the clock (ideally) provides approximately eight days of running time (that time period could easily be less, I don't want to wind it up all the way as doing so might damage the spring or other parts). The mechanism is incredibly quiet, only to be heard when one's ear is up against the clock!

The brass case was originally chrome-plated, some of which plating remains. Over-zealous polishing with the wrong materials possibly accounts for the compromise to the plating.
