Generously proportioned at 32 inches wide, each armless chair features a distinctive rolled back, removable boxed seat cushion secured to the frame with discreet metal clips, a tailored full skirt, and coordinating feather-and-down lumbar bolster.

The original woven upholstery is finely checked at close range, while from across the room the pattern reads as a gentle vertical stripe in warm rust and terracotta with muted gold, tan, and olive green. Careful tailoring continues around the chair, including piping along the rolled back and a small fabric-covered button neatly gathering the skirt panels at the center back.

Substantial enough to serve as true lounge seating, these chairs are equally effective placed opposite a sofa, flanking a fireplace or console, or creating a comfortable pair of reading chairs. Original Drexel Heritage factory and upholstery labels remain attached.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What I especially like about these chairs is their scale. Although technically an armless slipper form, at nearly 32 inches wide with a 20-inch seat height, they have the proportions and comfort of substantial lounge chairs rather than small occasional seating. The rolled backs give them a wonderful profile from the side, so they don't need to be pushed against a wall. And the fabric is much quieter in a room than its close-up suggests. From a distance, the tiny check recedes and the soft rust, gold, and olive stripes take over, giving the chairs warmth and pattern without making them feel busy. Finding a 20-year-old pair of upholstered chairs this beautifully preserved is unusual. I would keep them exactly as they are.
