Iconic and expertly restored eight drawer teak lowboy dresser or credenza from Arne Vodder’s “Triennale” collection, made in Denmark by Sibast Møbler. The series earned its namesake after winning first prize at the Triennale de Milano in 1957.
The case features a beveled edge that puts all attention on the dresser’s signature feature – an array of sculpted drawer fronts with curved pulls that balances minimalist restraint with visually arresting beauty. The drawer cases themselves are constructed from solid mahogany, illustrating the degree to which Sibast spared no expense in bringing Vodder’s work to life.
The Danish Furniture Makers’ Quality Control tag adjacent to the Sibast placard puts production of this particular example in the mid 1960s. It has been expertly refinished and shows beautifully.
